Important Asprey of London custom and one of a kind sterling silver presentation center bowl with flower arranger. The leafy repousse and reticulated lid with central handle having a portrait of Grellet C. Simpson (American, 1956-1974), President of Mary Washington College 1956 – 1974, engraved around the side of the handle "GRELLET C. SIMPSON AWARD". The footed bowl having a gold vermeil interior engraved around the bowl PRESENTED TO SIDNEY H. MITCHELL FOR EXCELLENCE IN UNDERGRADUATE TEACHING ~ MARY WASHINGTON COLLEGE 1973. The underside of lid hallmarked for sterling. Polished. The underside of bowl stamped MADE IN ENGLAND with Asprey of London and other hallmarks. Approx. overall height 4.75", diameter of lid 9.37", weight 15.5 troy ounces. Overall diameter of bowl 9.87", weight 37.28 troy ounces.
