Pair of antique .800 silver two tine forks in fitted and lined box for P.A. Lie Juvelier (Jeweler) CHRISTIANIA (now Oslo, Norway). Tines stamped STAHL. Approx. length 8.87 in. Note: P.A.Lie established his shop in Oslo (formerly Christiania) in 1855; from the early 1870s he engaged the architect-designer Friedrich Wilhelm von Hanno who designed several pieces of silver in the ‘Dragon style’ as it was called in Norway. He was succeeded as chief designer by his student, Samuel Holm, during the 1880s. P.A.Lie was one of the largest silversmiths in Oslo in the late nineteenth century and a major exponent of the Dragon style and the Scandinavian revival.
