Willy Skye soapstone carving of an eagle and chief. Signed Willy Skye 07. Approx. height 7.5 in., width 7.5 in. Note: William (Willy) Skye, Gagweniyoh(Hanging Moon) was born on July 15, 1975. Willy, of Iroquois heritage, belongs to the Snipe Clan of the Seneca, and lives in Ohsweken, a Six Nations Territory just south of Brantford in southern Ontario. He started sculpting at the age of 16. Willy carves a wide variety of subjects from traditional to contemporary; his favorite images being eagles and bears. He also makes pipes. He likes to listen to traditional songs and chants when sculpting to guide his mind and direct his energy.
