Richard Red Skelton (American, 1913 – 1997), ‘Brave Heart’, original pastel and prismatic oil pencils drawing on linen. Signed by the artist. Work is accompanied by COA with Replacement Value $18,500 – 22,500. COA provided by the only firm authorized by the Skelton Estate as the authority and experts in the field of Skelton artwork. Framed approx. 30 x 30 in., unframed 17 x 17.5 in. Note: This unique one of a kind drawing was drawn on an airline linen given to Red Skelton by a crew member. The portrait was based on a Native American character whom Mr. Skelton knew years ago. This work is considered exceptional and rare as Mr. Skelton created only two other Native American profiles. Provenance: From the personal collection of Red Skelton’s Opening Act, John Pate, who worked with Mr. Skelton for over six years and is still a close personal friend with Mrs. Lothian Skelton, Red’s widow.
