Machined sterling silver cigarette box having motto for British chivalric Order of the Garter, the highest of all British knighthoods ‘Honi soit qui mal y pense’ meaning ‘shamed be whoever thinks ill of it’, usually translated as’shame on anyone who thinks evil of it’. The faded gold wash interior hallmarked for London. Bottom rim "MAPPIN & WEBB". Approx. 4 x 3.25 in., weight 4.5 ounces.
