Highly unusual pair of Cartier sterling silver table top display boxes or cases having removable Lucite/acrylic tops with miniature Indian Mughal portraits; possibly depicting Emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz. These are hand painted works – likely gouache and enamel from Anglo-Indian or ‘Company’ School at Delhi. Each box hallmarked "Cartier STERLING 925 ITALY" along edge. Approx height 2.25", base 3.25" x 3.25".
Condition: Would benefit from polishing. Light surface scratches. Some oxidation with minor pitting. Wear is commensurate with age and handling.
